In this lecture-demonstration for musicians and non-musicians alike, Grammy-winning bassist/vocalist Esperanza Spalding shares her unique approach to reinventing the jazz standard. Session will conclude with Q&A.

Koret Discover Jazz Course, “That’s What She Said”.
Celebrating the exquisite work of women songwriters and composers dating back to the blues era, focus on female-centered themes in the Great American Songbook, highlight the unsung heroines of swing and bebop, and wrap up with contemporary instrumentalists, composers and arrangers in today’s jazz community.

Free workshop series: 2015-16 season master classes & workshops.
Join celebrated women jazz faculty in this very special workshop for female jazz musicians ages 13-18. Essential skills including ensemble techniques, theory and musicianship will be the focus of this program geared toward emerging jazz players. All instruments are welcome. Space is limited so reserve your spot soon!
Ideal for girls ages 13-18, maximum 25 students.
